An overall dark theme permeates Toby's The Dessert Asylum, with its quirky menu, dark decor and madcap naming. But aside from these, the place itself is average at best.

Ambience is average at Toby's The Dessert Asylum, and decor is minimal. The good part is they have an excellent location, next to the huge glass wall which offers a good view, but doesn't dovetail with the overall dark theme they are supposed to portray. Furniture is functional, but a little cramped in layout.

Service is below average at Toby's The Dessert Asylum. I'm not sure if it's the spaced out looking staff or the rather cold attitude / feeling I get from them here. But they do get things done, and food is served rather quickly. Tables are slightly unclean as well, and the menu looks worn out, both of which somewhat irks me.

Food isn't a strong point for Toby's The Dessert Asylum, but the real highlights here are the mudpies and desserts. Appropriately, the desserts are quite good, and portions are large. Prices tend to be slightly higher as compared to similar items elsewhere though.

The Spicy Chicken Pizza is a rather small 9-inch pizza topped with sliced chicken, onions, and a spicy garlic sauce base on a freshly baked thin crust pizza base. I like the little heat that the sauce has, as it builds the more you consume the pizza, but the overall dish itself isn't very filling.

The T-Rex is a mudpie of double chocolate ice cream, mocha almond ice cream and a cookie in the centre. Rich and chocolatey, very decadent!

The force is strong with Lord Vader, a mudpie of rum and raisin ice cream, double chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, waffle bits hidden within and grand marnier alcohol. Dark but so tasty, and the alcohol adds a nice bit of kick.

The Lemon Demon is made with a mixture of lemon sorbet and lemonade. Cool and refreshing, slightly thicker in consistency than a normal lemonade, and also slightly more expensive at about SGD $8.
