Service at The Balcony Restaurant is friendly and welcoming, with staff checking to see if your dining experience is as comfortable as possible. While you'll need to wait slightly for food, service is efficient and quick. Change requests are easily accomodated. Staff also put in little touches like handwritten thank you notes, it looks like they clearly enjoy their job!

If dining with the Stone Grill, staff will advise on cooking time and methods when serving you the food. They will also offer to change the stone if it gets cold during a long meal. I find them to be knowledgable about their products, and able to offer suggestions / advice well, including pairing of wine with food.

Food is excellent at The Balcony Restaurant, with a good selection of appetizers / soups / salads, main courses, and desserts. The drinks selection at The Balcony Restaurant is extensive, with a huge list of locally produced wine, beer, cocktails and more. All produce and ingredients used are fresh, and effort is made to keep them relatively healthy, such as trimming off fat and using less oil. This kind of excellent quality and simplicity allows the natural taste to shine in their dishes, and I felt that overall prices were reasonable and value for money.

The Balcony Restaurant is known for its Stone Grill dining, where diners cook their own food on hot stones. This method of cooking is both enjoyable and engaging; cooking the ingredients quickly while locking in the natural juices, flavours and nutrients. As a result of this 'dry cooking', little to no oil is used, and the resulting flavour is clean, fresh and absolutely lovely. Stone Grill dining is somewhat of a novelty concept in Australia, and The Balcony Restaurant in Adelaide capitalises on this concept to its fullest.

This nutritious, lean, and low-fat white meat is farmed from Saltwater Crocodile in Australia. Crocodile has a delicate flavour similar to a mix of chicken and crab, with a texture that is slightly tougher than chicken, yet still tender and juicy. It should be cooked all the way through.

This popular table fish is common in Australia, and should be cooked all the way through. Barramundi fish has a delicate white colour, a firm yet flaky texture, and smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Barramundi tends to fall apart if cooked too long.

Emu meat is very similar to beef, with a reddish colour and slightly tough texture. The taste is slightly more gamey in nature. Emu meat is sourced from local farms, and can be consumed at various stages of cooking just like beef; raw, medium or well done.

King Prawn is a rather large, meaty seafood sourced from local fisheries in Port Adelaide. King Prawn cooks quickly, within just 1 minute or so.
