Located along the stretch of shophouses in Simpang Bedok, near the fire station, D'zerts Cafe is a speciality dessert cafe that does pretty good waffles and ice cream. Owner and chef Lemuel Tay started baking as a Navy chef, and decided to strike out to open D'zerts Cafe with his dad, Mr. Tay Yong Seng, in April 2013.

Ambience at D'zerts Cafe is fun and casual, with bright colours of green, red, pink and white. Furniture is simple but modern, and the clean, brightly lit interior is spacious. The menu is clear and legible, and the quirky pastries displayed in the dessert counter are very attractive. A faint aroma of waffles and baking lingers in the air, while the edible garden outside lends a touch of greenery. Nice place for chilling!

Service at D'zerts Cafe is casual, but friendly. Staff are quick to seat you and take orders, and are knowledgable enough to make recommendations on popular flavours for ice cream. However, expect to wait a little longer for food, especially during peak periods, as the kitchen takes some time to prepare it.

Food at D'zerts Cafe is simple, but also their weakest point overall. Their desserts are pretty good, especially their waffles and ice cream. However, the finger food here is terrible, poor quality offerings, and should be avoided. Portions are nicely sized for individuals, though sharing of desserts is recommended. Budget about SGD $10 per person for desserts here.

The place is clean and inviting, and the spacious interior has ample seating. The various menus are clear and legible, written in marker pens, though they're scattered about the shop in a rather haphazard manner, with the waffles menu on 1 wall, the drinks menu on another wall, and the food menu printed on a small paper.

The creative Mango Passion (SGD $5.50) was redesigned from a typical cake, to this gourd shaped dessert. It consists of a mango and passionfruit mousse, filled with mango cubes, and layered with almond joconde sponge cake.

They offer several creative varieties of teas on the menu, like the Orange Sorbet Rooibos Tea (SGD $4), or the Mango Tango Green Tea (SGD $4), which I found to be refreshing. The chilled versions are great for warm days!

The Sandwich Tuna (SGD $5.50), Sandwich Egg (SGD $5.50), and Pasta Salad (SGD $4.50) were substantial in portion, but terrible in taste. Looks like something you can easily do on your own, not worth paying for to get it here. Plus, they took over 30 minutes to serve this to us... Avoid at all costs.

The crisp outside, soft inside, fluffy Plain Jane Waffle (SGD $7.90) are very good, and worth ordering if you're in the area! The Waffle With Mango Sorbet & Peanut Butter Ice Cream (SGD $13.70) was possibly the best combination we tried, the Mango Sorbet was rich, thick, and fruity, though a tad overly sweet. The Peanut Butter Ice Cream was the best ice cream flavour of the day, rich, creamy, nutty, and thick, excellent! Highly recommend ordering the Peanut Butter Ice Cream!

The Waffle With Matcha & Salted Caramel Ice Cream (SGD $13.70) had a somewhat below average Salted Caramel Ice Cream, as it wasn't as rich, creamy, sweet and salty enough in flavour. Plus, it melted extremely quickly. The Matcha Ice Cream fared much better, with solid, strong green tea flavour, above average in taste.

The Waffle With Black Sesame & Cookies Cream Ice Cream (SGD $13.70) has a Cookies Cream Ice Cream that features thick, large chunks of Oreo cookies, which made eating it somewhat difficult. The Black Sesame Ice Cream was decent, similar to the black sesame paste dessert in taste, but the taste isn't as pronounced as it should be, and the texture is a little thin. Could be better.

Loved the unique Earl Grey Sauce, which was thick, rich, and sweet, with a floral essence from the tea. I would recommend getting this for your ice cream!

Earl Grey Sauce

An above average Salted Caramel Cheesecake, I thought this was pretty good. The texture of the cheesecake is properly smooth and creamy, with a rich cheese and salted caramel flavour. Balanced in taste, you get both the sweet and salty notes. Good!

Didn't like the Matcha Latte Cake, because the texture of the green tea mousse is too creamy and cloying for me. Layered between almond joconde sponge, the green tea flavour isn't as pronounced as the ice cream. Skip this.
