Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera / Flag Staff Hill, offers fantastic views of the surrounding towns, especially George Town. The climate is similar to a temperate climate, cool with mist. There is an abundance of Penang Hill Flora And Fauna, and the various hills comprise the highest points in Penang.

There are several ways up Penang Hill. By far the most popular, and most expensive, is the Penang Hill Railway Tram. It is also the fastest way to get up Penang Hill, taking only 10 minutes of travel time, plus about 20 minutes of waiting time. This admission also grants you access to the mini Penang Hill Museum, located at the Lower Tunnel Station. Tip: Be warned that there is no proper queue system, so some 'assertiveness' may be required to get aboard.

You can also opt to hike up Penang Hill. The more popular hiking trails include the Jeep Track Hiking Trail, the Moon Gate Hiking Trail and the Viaduct Road Hiking Trail & Viaduct Station. Be sure to catch the views from Pit Stop 52 and Pit Stop 84!

The top offers the most scenic Penang Hill View. Located here are several former colonial buildings, including the Gate House and Bel Retiro Old Governor's Bungalow. Near the Visitor Centre are the Amphitheatre, the Old Stone Gate Arch and Original Tram Exhibit, as well as a food court.

Just behind the food court is The Owl Musuem, which is rather small, and is more like a souvenir store. At SGD $4 (MYR $10) per entry, it felt more like a tourist trap. Basically The Owl Museum is a collection of owl-themed art and books, with no owl specimens, and the main problem is it's name, which gives the wrong expectations. It might have been better off calling it 'The Owl Art Musuem', or something else along those lines. Plus, they should at least have a guide to explain the various displays, which will make it value for money.

If you're planning a visit, do note that it's best to arrive during daylight hours, especially if you're hiking. Allocate between 1 to 2 hours if you're taking the tram, and SGD $12 (MYR $30) for admission. Allocate between 3 to 6 hours if you're hiking, bring water and wear a good pair of shoes.
