Operating under the John Barras Pub Company group, The Three Magpies is a typical and traditional British English pub, offering a good range of drinks, value for money tasty pub grub, entertaining pub activities and a place to watch sports. The Three Magpies also has themed daily specials everyday.

Ambience at The Three Magpies looks run down on the surface. Thick wooden beams criss cross the interior, and low level lighting does little to brighten the dark interior and low ceiling. Small windows let in little ambient light, though the furniture is comfortable and floor layout is spacious. There are signs of wear and tear within The Three Magpies though. Fortunately, the place is livened by the addition of retro arcade gaming machines like pinball, a pool table, and LCD televisions which screen live soccer matches. During sports season, The Three Magpies can get very lively and crowded.

Service at The Three Magpies is friendly, but ordering is self-service. Unless you're standing at the bar counter, you'll have little actual interaction with the staff here, beyond some pleasantries. While they do check on how your meal is going, and are knowledgable about the menu, the actual service is just above average to decent, and not particularly memorable.

Food at The Three Magpies is relatively inexpensive and affordable, with decent sized portions. Taste and quality of dishes is pretty good, and is served relatively quickly despite busy periods. The menu at The Three Magpies isn't extensive, but is sufficient for repeat visits. Do look out for their daily themes!

Great atmosphere when the place screens sports, as well as on weekends, but relatively quiet during the day. The retro interior does offer several entertainment options.

True British English pub grub is unpretentious and uncomplicated. Not classy, but satisfying and affordable. Beer is the drink of choice here, and bar snacks do well during the sporting seasons. Dessert options are extremely limited though.
