Despite the Japanese sounding name, Omakase Burger is actually an American inspired burger joint. While 'omakase' means 'let the chef decide', Omakase Burger specialises in authentic American smashed beef burgers, using patties made in-house daily, with ground beef from their own proprietary blend of premium USDA choice-grade cuts.

Omakase Burger has a minimalist ambience, with brightly lit, clean lines, white walls, and wooden furniture. Very zen, somewhat homely, and quite spacious. The chairs are sufficiently comfortable, but table sizes can be a little small, especially since they serve food on large plates / bowls. They even have a faux al-fresco lawn dining area!

Omakase Burger staff are friendly, greeting you upon entry. However, they use a fast food style self service concept, where you queue, place your orders, make payment, collect a buzzer, then collect your order when it's ready. Typically, the wait for each order is about 10 minutes or so, even during non-peak periods. But I notice staff are rather efficient are clearing dirty tables.

Omakase Burger can be considered to serve artisinal food, because their beef patties and burger buns are all made in-house. Their menu is focused solely on burgers, with no other main course options. Portion sizes for their burgers here are small, but each bite is packed with flavour. Their side dishes and drink portions, in contrast, are huge, and may be better for sharing. Prices aren't cheap here, budget at least SGD $25 per person for a meal.

The place has a zen like simplicity to it, with curious glass globules drawing the eye. Along the wall is a comic strip, detailing the steps to creating their burgers.

There is no typical Omakase Burger Meal on the menu, a 'meal' here simply means you choose 1 burger, 1 side dish, and 1 drink. You're given a slight discount on the total price of all 3 items combined. I tend to find their actual burgers rather small, and their side dishes huge enough to share between 2 people.

The Home Made Lemonade (SGD $4.60) is a refreshing house blend of lemon, lime, and other secret ingredients! The concentrated, zesty, tangy, sour drink is both palate cleansing and thirst quenching, pour it over ice to dilute the concentrate! Recommended!

The classic American Root Beer Float (SGD $5.80) makes a comeback here, with A & W Root Beer in a tall, cold mug, with a huge serving of creamy vanilla ice cream. Dose of nostalgia!

What can I say about the Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (SGD $4.80)? It's fresh, and it's juice made from oranges. I like that it's a somewhat healthier option of drink on the menu.

They even have a small selection of craft beers on the menu! The Beer Coedo Beniaka (SGD $13.50) is a Japanese beer classified as a Happoshu / Malt Beverage, that is uniquely made with Kintoki sweet potatoes. It has a bright amber colour, a full body with a thin head of foam, a creamy rich taste with a caramel sweetness and hint of sweet potato, and a dry finish without bitterness. Very interesting!

The Sweet Potato Fries (SGD $5.20 Regular) are thick cut, with a slightly crisp exterior, and a soft, warm interior. Love the natural sweetness, and it's also high in fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Best shared, because the portion is huge!

I like that the Onion Rings (SGD $5.20) are thick cut and juicy, with the taste of onions just right, not too overpowering. The batter is crisp and golden, and shatters with a satisfiying crunch!

The Truffle Fries (SGD $7.30) is wonderfully fragrant, with an earthy taste that isn't overpowering. Sprinkled with the house blend of black truffle, white truffle, salt, and grated Italian Black Summer Truffles, it's a heady mix. The fries themselves are fragrant, with the natural taste of potatoes, and I like that it's crisp without being brittle. It still retains that slight bite even when cold... very good!

The Raisin Roll isn't a prominent item on the menu, normally packaged as part of the Oven-Baked Parmesan Chicken Meal. While the bread is slightly tough, I find it to be fragrant, with a nice chewy texture. The raisins stuffed within are generous, and lend a sweetness to this bread.

The Omakase Cheeseburger (SGD $14.90) features the signature, hand ground beef patty, that is juicy, packed with flavour, and yet still tender enough to come apart easily when bit. Sandwiched between 2 artisinal burger buns that have been toasted, giving it a slight crisp edge, while still being soft and fluffy within. Finished with fresh lettuce, tomato, melted American cheese, and a secret Omakase sauce, burgers don't get much better than this. Highly recommended!

The Omakase Chicken Sandwich (SGD $14.90) is extremely filling, packed with 2 thick slices of deep fried chicken fillet. You can taste the freshness of the meat, and it's so juicy! Sandwiched between the same 2 artisinal burger buns, that I discovered holds together moisture really well without falling apart, and garnished with fresh lettuce, tomato, and their secret Omakase sauce. Highly recommended!

The Oven-Baked Parmesan Chicken (SGD $15.90) is a unique dish. Farm fresh chickens are breaded in a parmesan cheese crust, then baked. The result is tender and juicy chicken meat, with a lovely sweetness. The crust is cheesy, yet holds together well. I especially like that the chicken skin and chicken fats peel off the crust and meat easily, meaning you can opt healthy for this!

The Omakase Applewood Smoked Bacon Cheeseburger (SGD $17.90) features the same succulent, juicy beef patty, packed with flavour. But the addition of crisp bacon, infused with a sweet, fragrant aroma from being slow smoked over apple wood chips, lifts the burger to another level. The ultimate in burger indulgence you'll be able to get here.
