Opening its doors in Singapore in November 2010, The House Of Robert Timms is among the oldest, most established coffee franchises from Australia. True to its spirit, The House Of Robert Timms is a chill, casual, relaxing place, serving wholesome and hearty Australian fare, with a focus on all-day breakfast, grills, and desserts. With their strong background in coffee growing and roasters, you'll also get a pretty good cup of joe here!

Ambience at The House Of Robert Timms is casual, relaxed, and tranquil, largely due to their choice of location, which sees less foot traffic pass by. Comfortable, plush cushioned wooden furnishings line the spacious, brightly lit place, and a hint of coffee fragrance lingers in the air. Love the comfortable outdoor seating, though it's subject to ambient temperature. They even have a choice of indoor or outdoor bar!

Service at The House Of Robert Timms is great! Staff are friendly and welcoming, demonstrating personalised service, making guests feel at home. They're quick and efficient in taking orders, fulfilling requests, and clearing away empty / dirty tables or plates. I also note staff have good product knowledge, able to describe dishes, as well as state current promotions. Yes, they also checked for feedback on your dining experience. In fact, the standards here far exceed those of a typical cafe, and are comparable with a fine dining restaurant. Excellent!

Food at The House Of Robert Timms is classic Australian / British English comfort food. The menu has been revised, while it's more limited with fewer items, each component of every dish is much better executed, improving the overall food quality. Portions are large for individuals, but mostly delicious, you'll have a hard time stopping! Prices are comparable to that of a bistro, slightly more expensive than a cafe, budget about SGD $34 per person for a decent meal here.

Rather decent Organic Hot Chocolate With Marshmallows (SGD $7.50) as it has a nice deep chocolate flavour. I like that they serve the marshmallows separately, so you can decide how much to add.

An Aussie restaurant will naturally serve Aussie drinks! The Soft Drink Bundaberg Root Beer (SGD $6.50) is a classic Australian root beer made with sarsaparilla root, liquorice root, molasses, and vanilla beans. Nice sweet herbal flavour!

Among the most popular Australian beers, the Beer Victoria Bitter (SGD $13) is brewed by Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A pale golden colour with a thin foam head, aroma of grains, malt, and bread, with a light, crisp body and medium carbonation. Flavour of cereal, light metals, apples, and wheat, with a bitter sweet taste. Very easy to drink beginner's beverage.

Love the rich, luscious texture of the house-made Creamy Mushroom Soup (SGD $13), with its deep, earthy savoury salty flavour from the generous chunks of diced wild button mushrooms. Served with 2 large slices of Garlic Bread (SGD $6), crisp and fragrant with a light herbal garlic butter spread.

True to its name, the Ultimate Fry-Up (SGD $25) is a giant portion of creamy wobbly scrambled eggs, fresh crunchy argula / wild rocket leaves, juicy sweet grilled tomato, earthy sauteed wild button mushrooms with herbs, fragrant brioche toast, crisp bacon, and savoury smoked salmon slices. You can also choose to swap ingredients around from a list of items. Filling and comforting, each component is decently executed.

The house signature dish, the Fish & Chips (SGD $25.50) features a fresh, whole fillet of red snapper fish, in a light, crisp beer batter, with a savoury sweet flavour. Served with crunchy coleslaw, and thick cut English chips that are slightly perfumed with white truffle oil. Pure British English / Australian comfort food, and very filling. Highly recommended!

The Aussie Baby Ribs (SGD $28) here adopt the dry barbecue style, with tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs marinated in a dry spice rub, giving it a savoury salty sweet flavour, and locking in the moisture. Really tasty! This half slab of pork ribs is served with a fresh side salad and piping hot garlic fries. Good!

Love the 120-Days Aussie Ribeye (SGD $32), with its thin yet tasty, savoury salty, beefy meaty flavour. The 120 days grain fed beef ribeye steak is tender and juicy, served in a delicious red wine and au jus sauce, along with tender buttered zucchini, vibrant carrots, and truffle fries. Price is slightly higher than usual for the portion size, but I love the taste.

The Lamington Lemon (SGD $4.50) looks plain and non-descript. But I'm glad I had it, because it's delicious! Texture is moist, soft, and fluffy, with a bright lemon citrus flavour, and a nice overall sweetness, contrasted by the toasty earthy flavour of dessicated coconut. Even better than some versions I've eaten in Australia. Highly recommended!

Us

Overall, The House Of Robert Timms offers good food, in a comfortable setting, but what makes them stand out is their excellent, friendly service. In the competitive Singapore market, this has given them a slight edge, and the tasty, good quality dishes they're able to consistently produce helps as well.
