Opening its doors in February 2017, The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is the latest destination dining contender in Singapore. Helmed by Michelin-starred celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is only the 4th such outlet of his worldwide, offering fine French and Italian dishes in a casual bistro setting. It's also the most exclusive, located within the departure and transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 3, The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is inaccessible to the public, unless you're catching a flight.

Ambience at The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is relaxed and welcoming. The open concept lends a sense of space to the rather small floor space, which is brightly lit and tightly packed with clean-looking, modern furnishings in shades of navy blue and wood. Sleek and shiny black marble lines the bar and kitchen counters. The raised kitchen platform is open, allowing diners to see chefs preparing their meal, with the highlight being the feature pizza oven. A true premium casual dining experience.

Service at The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is akin to those of fine dining establishments, a testament to chef's experience in managing restaurant operations. Despite having just opened, staff are well trained, polite and courteous towards diners, fulfilling requests quickly and accurately. I note they're efficient at proactively offering to clear empty / dirty plates after each course, as well as when diners leave. They display good product knowledge, able to briefly describe dishes, and they also check for feedback on your dining experience.

Food at The Kitchen By Wolfgang Puck is a mix of French, Italian, and modern fusion cuisine, chef's intepretation of global comfort food, made using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu is limited in variety; suitable, as this place is not readily accessible, making planned repeat visits difficult unless you have a flight. Tasty, delicious plates, well-executed on my visits. Portions are large and hearty, more than sufficient even for large eaters. As a premium casual bistro, prices are high, more expensive than elsewhere. Budget about SGD $44 per person for a meal without drinks, and about SGD $70 if you also have drinks here.

The Cocktail Moscow Mule (SGD $25) is a classic tipple, a blend of vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice, served over ice in a copper mug with a lime wedge garnish. Here, Ketel One vodka and a metal mug is used instead. This elegant blend has a strong body, and calls the spirit to adventure.

The Cocktail Pearfect Martini (SGD $25) is a house speciality blend, featuring Absolut Pears vodka, pear puree, and lime juice, served in a chilled glass. Nicely fruity with a delicate aroma, and a smooth, pleasant body.

The House-Made Meat Balls (SGD $17) are served with rustic country bread, which has a crisp, airy texture that crunches beautifully, with a faint taste of grains. So aromatic. The meat balls are tightly packed, a mix of beef and veal, with good savoury flavour and a soft, moist texture. Served in a fresh, bright tomato sauce with sweet spicy notes, and garnished with parmesan cheese. Worth ordering!

Happy with the Rigatoni Alfredo (SGD $25), which features rigatoni pasta noodles in a rich, cream gravy, garnished with shredded chicken, wild button mushrooms, peas, and goat cheese. The hollow, al-dente pasta picks up the gravy beautifully, and when bit, bursts in the mouth, coating the palate in delicious flavour. Nicely savoury sweet, with hints of salty vegetal earthy in taste. Loved it. Highly recommended!

The signature house special, Wolfgang's Herb Roasted Half Chicken (SGD $35) features a medium sized, butterflied half chicken that is perfectly roasted. With a tender, juicy, clean texture, and delicate sweet savoury flavour, it's so good. Served with crunchy stalks of vegetal earthy broccolini, and a zesty herbal citrus gremolata, whose sharp sour yet bright flavour pairs nicely with the chicken meat.

The French Apple Tart With Caramel (SGD $12) is large enough for sharing, and is well executed. A crumbly, flaky puff pastry surrounds slices of sweet, caramelised, tender apple slices. The crust of the pastry shatters so easily, and the buttery flavour, along with the sweet caramel sauce and light dusting of cinnamon sugar, complements the fruity sweet flavours of the caramelised apples. Among the better versions I've had. Good!

Chef Wolfgang Puck has his own wine label with 4 varietals of wine, including the Wine Cabernet Sauvignon Wolfgang Puck (SGD $28), and the Wine Chardonnay Wolfgang Puck (SGD $28). These are specially cultivated to be approachable, easy-drinking, pleasant yet with an intense character, and affordable, pairing well with many dishes on the menu.
